Carlos Tevez's move to China may make him the highest paid player in the world
Carlos Tevez is leaving Boca Juniors for Shanghai Shenhua, making him the latest player to cash a gigantic check in the China Super League, per Ole. But just how much he will be making is astounding.
According to the Argentinean outlet (via AS), Shanghai Shenhua will pay $762,000 per week.
Doing the math on that, it comes out to $37.5 million per year. And since Tevez signed a two-year contract, that will be a cool $75 million for his time in China.
Tevez is now the highest paid player in the world. And set for life, if he wasn't already.
Tevez came up in the Boca Juniors academy and, after a long European career that concluded with Juventus, went back to the Argentine club in the summer of 2015. It was a wonderful homecoming and Tevez was so happy to be at the club he loved most. It looked like he would finish his career with Boca Juniors, but that much money is pretty much impossible to turn down. And who's to say that Tevez can't go back to Boca Juniors when he's done in China anyway? He'll just do it $75 million richer.
