South African player carded for showboating his 'Kasi flavor'

Published Nov. 15, 2016 2:34 p.m. ET

Earlier this season we got a little taste of South Africa's traditional 'kasi flavour' when a couple Free State Stars players hit the dab during their PSL Reserve League match.

Baroka FC midfielder Sipho 'Sgobe' Moeti showed off some of the same sauce over the weekend, minus the dab, but ended up getting cautioned for his efforts. Now, Moeti wants his team to appeal the yellow card he picked up after showboating against Platinum Stars in the Telkom Knockout on Sunday.

Moeti got his card for kneeling on the ball twice during the run of play, and he wasn't happy about it at all, telling KickOff he planned to appeal the caution: "I was disappointed with the yellow card. I believe the opponent was far and I was within my right to show off my skill. We were off today (from training). I am going to speak to the club tomorrow and see if they can appeal against the yellow card."

Here's hoping he wins the appeal. Kasi flavour should be here to stay.
