Watch Tim Cahill injure himself on this disastrous goal celebration
Everyone loves a good goal celebration, and there is no shortage of ways to perfect the occasion. You can go with the latest trend, make an emotional statement, belt out a song or do any other number of things.
But sometimes, getting a goal celebration right is simply a matter of knowing what not to do, and Tim Cahill taught us all an important lesson on Saturday.
Here's what not do to:
☑ Look lost and confused
☑ Run into the other team's substitutes
☑ Injure yourself
☑ Lose the game on top of it
Check out the stink-eye from the Melbourne Victory substitutes who are warming up on the sideline when Cahill plows into them. Cahill is perhaps lucky he didn't start a brawl with his impromptu celebration, although he did end up injured by running into them, so it's a bit like he got a brawl with himself.
He had to wear a bandage for the rest of the match, which only added insult to injury as Melbourne City lost 2-1 to Victory in the Melbourne Derby. Next time, we suspect Cahill will pretend to box the corner flag like he usually does – at least the flag never hits back.
