Abilene Christian romps past Arlington Baptist 107-54

ABILENE, Texas (AP) — Jaren Lewis missed just one shot and scored 18 points as Abilene Christian opened the season with an 107-54 defeat of Arlington Baptist, of the National Christian College Athletic Association, on Tuesday night.

Lewis was 8 of 9 from the floor and made both free throw attempts while dishing out two assists. B.J. Maxwell added 14 points with six rebounds and Joe Pleasant came off the bench to score 14. Payten Ricks chipped in 13 with four steals. Clay Gayman scored 11 points with four steals as Abilene Christian swiped the ball 13 times.

All 14 Abilene Christian players got in playing time with nine of them scoring.

The Wildcats shot 62 percent (41-66) from the field while holding Arlington Baptist to 18-of-49 shooting (37 percent). The Wildcats also dominated the boards, 41-21.

Abilene Christian was up 25-11 midway of the first half and took a 52-25 lead into the break. The Wildcats outscored Arlington Baptist 55-29 in the second half.

Jashun Petite and Jordan Williams had 11 points apiece for the Patriots.
