Albany Great Danes losing top 2 scorers
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) Junior guards Joe Cremo and David Nichols, the top two scorers for the Albany Great Danes of the America East Conference, have decided not to return to the university for their final year of eligibility.
Cremo, a native of the Albany area who scored 1,469 points in three seasons and averaged 17.8 as a junior, tells the Albany Times Union he wants to finish his college career playing at a higher level. Cremo plans to complete his degree over the summer so he can play at another school next season.
Nichols, a Chicago native who averaged 14.6 points, plans to graduate in May and also will be able to play in 2018-19. He said he did not discuss his departure with Cremo.
Coach Will Brown was out of town and unavailable for comment.
The news came only a day after Brown had confirmed that two junior college transfers, sophomores Matt Conway and Xavier Cochran, were leaving the team, which finished 22-10.
