Albany pulls away in second half, beats Marist 75-53

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) Ray Sanders scored 18 points and Evan Singletary added 17 points and Albany picked up its fifth straight victory, defeating Marist 75-53 on Wednesday night.

Sanders was 8 of 11 from the field and Singletary, who made 3 of 5 3-point attempts, was 6 of 11. Joe Cremo added 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting. Greig Stire grabbed 14 rebounds and Mike Rowley 11 as the Great Danes overwhelmed the Red Foxes (2-6) on the boards 47-24.

Albany (7-3) led by only four, 32-28, at halftime. Marist tied the game at 34-all before Albany went on a 13-0 run, including seven points from Singletary. A 12-0 run resulted in a 26-point lead with six minutes remaining.

Khallid Hart led the Red Foxes with 14 points and Isaiah Lamb 10. Marist made only 5 of 24 3-point tries.

Albany, the three-time defending American East champion, won the first meeting between the schools in 37 years.
