Alcorn State beats Southern 68-67 behind Mosby's 19 points (Feb 25, 2017)

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) A.J. Mosby scored 19 points with five 3-pointers and Alcorn State beat Southern 68-67 on Saturday night to win its 11th straight.

Southern rallied to take a 64-63 lead on Shawn Prudhomme's free throw, but DeAndre Davis hit a 3, Johnson added a jumper and the Braves led 68-64.

Prudhomme hit a 3 with 1:33 left but the Jaguars got no closer, missing two shots the rest of the way.

Reginal Johnson added 11 for the Braves (16-11, 13-3), who have clinched a top-four seed and will host a first-round game in the Southwest Athletic Conference Tournament. Alcorn State entered the game a half-game behind Texas Southern and faces TSU on Thursday.

Mosby hit two 3s and a layup and Alcorn State rallied to a 44-40 lead after opening the second half with a 10-2 run. Southern's LaQuentin Collins tied it at 48 with a 3, but Maurice Howard hit a 3, Mosby hit two more, and the Braves led 57-50 with 11:53 left.

Prudhomme scored 25 for Southern (14-15, 10-6), which saw its three-game win streak end.
