Allen propels Florida past Mississippi in 80-71 win

OXFORD, Miss. (AP) Kevaughn Allen scored 27 points, 20 in a decisive first half outburst, as Florida defeated Mississippi 80-71 Saturday night.

Dorian Finney-Smith scored 17 points, Kasey Hill had 11 and John Egbunu added 10 for the Gators (11-6, 3-2 Southeastern Conference), earning their first league road win in three starts. Allen finished 9 of 11 from the field, 6 of 7 from 3-point range and added six rebounds.

Stefan Moody, limited by early foul trouble, led the Rebels (12-5, 2-3) with 22 points. Sebastian Saiz and Rasheed Brooks added 17 and 14 points, respectively. The loss snapped a seven-game home winning streak, including two in the new $96.5 million ''Pavilion at Ole Miss.''

The Gators were never seriously threatened, racing to a 15-2 lead in the opening four minutes. Florida held a 49-30 halftime advantage and the Rebels never closed within double digits until the final minute.
