Allman scores 40, Fullerton edges Hawaii 69-66 (Jan 27, 2018)

HONOLULU (AP) Kyle Allman scored a career-high 40 points, Austen Awosika made two free throws with 11.4 seconds left and Cal State Fullerton rallied to defeat Hawaii 69-66 on Saturday night.

Allman scored six straight points to tie the game with 2:21 remaining and Jackson Rowe followed with a layup to give the Titans their first lead since 12-11.

Drew Buggs missed the first of two free throws with 12 seconds to go, forcing the Rainbow Warriors to foul. After Awosika's free throws Buggs missed a 3-pointer from the right wing. Hawaii missed its last five shots after taking a 65-59 lead with 3:51 to play.

Allman was 16 of 19 from the field, including 5 of 6 on 3-pointers, for the 20th 40-point game in Division I this season and the fifth highest game in Fullerton history, six behind Bobby Brown's record.

Rowe had 14 points for the Titans (12-7, 5-2 Big West Conference), who made 8 of 15 3s and shot 61 percent (27 of 44).

Mike Thomas scored 26 for Hawaii (13-6, 4-2), which is now one of four teams with two league losses. Thomas had an amazing start with 18 points that produced a 21-19 lead midway through the first half.
