Alonso sets career mark for 3s in UNC Greensboro's blowout

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — Francis Alonso scored 26 points in 22 minutes and sett UNC Greensboro's career mark for made 3-pointers, and the Spartans breezed to a 105-57 victory over Division-II member Johnson & Wales (NC) on Friday night.

Alonso sank 4 of 7 from 3-point range, giving the senior guard 311 successful treys — one better than Scott Hartzell. Alonso made 3 of 4 shots from inside the arc and all eight of his free throws. Alonso also moved into third place on the school's scoring list with 1,597 points.

Isaiah Miller came off the bench to tie his career high with 19 points for the Spartans (3-1), who were playing their home opener. The sophomore guard hit 9 of 12 shots from the floor and added four rebounds four assists and four steals. Demetrius Troy added 12 points and four steals. James Dickey had 10 points and nine rebounds. He blocked three shots and is now fourth on the school's all-time list with 125. Kyrin Galloway had 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting for the Spartans, who shot 56 percent from the floor for the game.

Robert Hobson led the Wildcats with 15 points. It was the first meeting between the schools.
