Anderson opens with career-high 21 in Brown's 106-78 win (Nov 11, 2017)

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) Brandon Anderson made 16 of 17 free throws on his way to a career-high 21 points and Brown beat Johnson & Wales 106-78 on Saturday in its season opener.

Anderson, a sophomore, added six rebounds, four steals and three assists for the Bears, who were 35 of 40 from the free-throw line and outrebounded the Division III Wildcats 53-35. Junior Travis Fuller added a career-high 16 points. Zach Hunsaker and Desmond Cambridge each scored 15 points with Joshua Howard adding 10. The Bears' 106 points rank sixth-best in program history.

Brown has three returning starters but were missing Obi Okolie, their top returning scorer, who sat out to rest a sore foot.

Howard's 3-pointer gave Brown the lead for good at 27-25 with nine minutes left in the first half, which ended with the Bears up 58-39.

Randal Ferdinand scored 17 points to lead the Wildcats, who had 18 turnovers.
