Arizona Baseball meets Arizona Basketball in a Lip Sync Contest at McKale
Just in case you missed it, there was a lip sync contest taking place in McKale, Arizona Baseball vs. Arizona Basketball.
You guessed it; the competition includes Arizona Baseball’s pitcher Robbie Medel, ZonaZealots cannot get enough of his exuberance and freedom to be himself.
Medel faces off against Arizona Basketball’s forward Ray Smith who Wildcats fans get to see him use his talents on the McKale Center court. Of course, they’re waiting for the Red and Blue game in October, but this will do for now!
There were three judges, Brian Jeffries, The Voice of the Arizona Wildcats, Jimmy Van Ostrand (Director, Baseball) and Laura Little (Director of Marketing and Fan Engagement).
A little birdie told me that the idea came from inside the SID’s office (brilliant) along with Robbie and his producer Sawyer Gieseke (also both brilliant).
On one the hand, Wildcats baseball fans have enjoyed watching rally towel waving dugout favorite Robbie Medel perfect his lip syncing skills in the several Sawyer Gieseke filmed/directed/produced parodies during the baseball season and postseason.
ESPN took notice and joined the duo to feature a co-produced video during post season play.
Ray Smith, on the other hand, is no slouch when it comes to lip syncing. If you follow Kobi Simmons or Dylan Smith on SnapChat, you will often get a glimpse of Smith doing his thing into phones. Kobi does a great job too, as well as Arizona Football’s Sammy Morrison and his crew and don’t forget Samajie Grant.
Without further ado, we give you Robbie vs. Ray, ‘Classic Lip Sync Battle’ number one. You have to watch to the end to see who wins!
Great news! Robbie informs fans at the end of the video that there is more to come (wipes brow) and next time he will take on an Arizona Volleyball player. YAY! BearDown everyone who had anything to do with this masterpiece!
