Boston University hits late FTs, holds off Bucknell 84-79 (Jan 02, 2018)
LEWISBURG, Pa. (AP) Cedric Hankerson scored 21 points, and Javante McCoy made key free throws late to help Boston University beat Bucknell 84-79 on Tuesday night.
McCoy made the second of a pair of free throws to give Boston University (6-7, 2-0 Patriot League) a 75-69 lead. Zach Thomas hit a 3-pointer and Bruce Moore a layup to pull Bucknell to 77-74 with 33 seconds left. BU then made 7 of 8 free-throw attempts, including McCoy's 4-of-4 shooting, to seal it.
Both teams missed eight free throws, but the Terriers made nine from distance compared to Bucknell's six.
Hankerson was 5 of 11 from the field and made 10 of 13 free throws. Will Goff had 17 points and made five 3-pointers for BU. Tyler Scanlon chipped in 14 points with 10 rebounds, and McCoy finished with 13 points.
Thomas scored 25 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, and Moore added 18 points to lead Bucknell (7-8, 1-1).
