Boston University pulls away from New Hampshire, 84-70

BOSTON (AP) — Javante McCoy and Max Mahoney scored 20 points apiece as Boston University pulled away from former America East Conference rival New Hampshire in the second half to post an 84-70 win on Saturday.

The schools met for the sixth straight season since the Terriers joined the Patriot League in the summer of 2013.

Mahoney grabbed nine rebounds and Walter Whyte had 19 points for Boston University (2-2).

Sean Sutherlin had 20 points, seven rebounds and six assists for the Wildcats (2-2). Jayden Martinez added 19 points. Blondeau Tchoukuiengo had 13 points.

Nick Guadarrama, whose 20 points per game coming into the matchup led the Wildcats, had 3 points. He hit 1 of 5 from beyond the arc.

Boston University matches up against South Carolina on the road on Tuesday. New Hampshire takes on Central Connecticut on the road on Tuesday.
