Bryant nearly perfect as BYU beats Pacific 80-65 (Jan 27, 2018)
PROVO, Utah (AP) Elijah Bryant had 28 points on a nearly perfect shooting night on Saturday and BYU pulled away late to beat Pacific 80-65.
Bryant was 8 of 9 from both the field and the foul line, including hitting all four of his 3-point attempts, and grabbed seven rebounds for the Cougars (18-5, 7-3 West Coast Conference). BYU solidified its hold on third place in conference standings.
Pacific (10-13, 5-5) closed within 63-59 on Miles Reynolds' free throws with 3:50 left. But the Cougars had a 13-2 run to pull away highlighted by Yoeli Childs' 3-point play.
Childs had 26 points on 10-of-15 shooting. It was the ninth time this season Bryant and Childs both reached 20 points.
Bryant had three 3-pointers to power a 16-2 run that turned a 44-39 deficit into a 55-46 lead for the Cougars.
Roberto Gallinat had 18 points and Reynolds added 13 to lead the Tigers.
