Carpenter leads Cleveland State past Northern Kentucky 70-65

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. (AP) Kenny Carpenter sank four 3-pointers and had a career-high 18 points Saturday night to lead Cleveland State past Northern Kentucky for its first Horizon League victory, 70-65.

Cleveland State (6-13, 1-5) took the lead for good midway through the second half on Vinny Zollo's 3-pointer, which sparked a 10-2 burst and made it 60-54 with 6:57 to play. Earlier, the Vikings had closed out the first half with a 13-0 run capped with back-to-back 3s from Carpenter to erase a double-digit deficit and take a 29-27 advantage into the break.

Demonte Flannigan added 13 points and Andre Yates had 10 for Cleveland, which also got a career-high 11 rebounds from Jibri Blount. Carpenter hit 7 of 11 from the field and was 4 of 5 from long range.

Northern Kentucky (5-11, 1-4) was led by Tyler White's 17 points and eight assists. Cole Murray added 12 points for the Norse.
