Carter, Simms lead Arkansas State to victory (Feb 17, 2017)

JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) Devin Carter made four 3-pointers and scored 18 points and Deven Simms added 16 and Arkansas State defeated Arkansas-Little Rock 67-58 on Friday night.

Rashad Lindsey added 10 points and Tamas Bruce 10 rebounds for the Red Wolves (19-8, 10-4 Sun Belt), who moved within a half-game of conference leader UT Arlington (9-3), which plays at Georgia State (9-4) today.

The Trojans (13-14, 4-10) were led by Jalen Jackson with 16 points. Marcus Johnson Jr. scored 10.

After Jackson hit a jumper to give UALR a one-point lead with 13 1/2 minutes left in the game, the Red Wolves went on a 16-0 run with 10 points from Simms to lead 53-38 with nine minutes remaining. The Trojans got within five twice after that, the final time after a basket by Kemy Osse with 44 seconds to go. Those were the Trojans' last points as Arkansas State added four free throws.
