Central Arkansas knocks Sam Houston down a peg, 88-70 (Feb 28, 2018)
CONWAY, Ark. (AP) Jordan Howard scored 28 points and Mathieu Kamba added 24 as Central Arkansas posted an 88-70 upset of Sam Houston State in the penultimate Southland Conference regular season game Wednesday night.
Central Arkansas cannot improve on its No. 7 seed into the Southland tournament, but the loss knocked Sam Houston out of a tie with Stephen F. Austin for the No. 3 seed after the Lumberjacks beat Abilene Christian.
The Bears shot 56.1 percent from the field on their home floor, hitting 32 of 57 from the field and 10 of 25 from distance, and collected 21 assists on 32 made baskets.
Howard knocked down 4 of 8 from beyond the 3-point arc and was 10-for-10 shooting from the line. Thatch Unruh was 3 of 6 from deep for Central Arkansas (15-15, 9-8).
Christopher Galbreath Jr. scored 12 points to lead the Bearkats (18-12, 12-5). Abrian Edwards and Josh Boutte added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
