Champion scores 22 points; Holy Cross beats Hartford 90-68

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) Robert Champion scored a career-high 22 points and Holy Cross rolled to a 90-68 victory over Hartford on Saturday night.

Holy Cross (4-6) snapped a three-game skid, and bounced back after a 92-59 loss at No. 2 Kansas on Dec. 9. The Crusaders shot a season-high 66 percent from the floor and had their largest win of the season.

Karl Charles had 13 points and Cullen Hamilton added 12 for Holy Cross. Matt Husek and Malachi Alexander scored 11 apiece.

Pancake Thomas had 16 points to lead Hartford (3-8), which has lost six straight.

The Crusaders used a 22-8 run to take a 36-16 lead with 6:49 left in the first half, and built a 45-26 halftime lead.

Holy Cross had a 13-5 spurt and forced three turnovers to open the second half and stretched its lead to 56-31 with 16:31 to play.
