Chris Mack on Edmond Sumner: 'He's fine' after fall vs. Dayton

Published Nov. 29, 2015 9:45 p.m. ET

With 5:54 remaining in the game, Xavier redshirt freshman point guard Edmond Sumner drove to the basket for the layup, but took a hard fall on his left hip on his way down.

He would leave the game and would not return. The Musketeers didn't need him, as they were cruising to a 90-61 win over former conference rival Dayton in the championship game of the AdvoCare Invitational.

Xavier head coach Chris Mack provided an update following the game, though Sumner was seen standing and smiling on the sidelines.

Sumner finished with 14 points (10 in the first half) three rebounds, three assists and a steal in 24 minutes. On the season, he is second to Trevon Bluiett in scoring at 11.0 points per game.

Xavier returns home to host Western Kentucky on Saturday
