Clemson lands transfer center, former top-50 recruit
Three weeks after leaving the Texas A&M program, freshman center Elijah Thomas has found a new school.
Jeff Goodman of ESPN reported on Wednesday that Thomas, a consensus top-50 recruit in the Class of 2015, has transferred to Clemson. He picked the Tigers over Nebraska and Arizona State.
Thomas was part of a heralded class for the Aggies, but unlike fellow freshman D.J. Hogg and Tyler Davis, Thomas saw limited action in his first semester of college, playing behind Davis and sophomore center Tonny Trocha-Morelos.
In eight games, the 6-foot-9 big man averaged 3.8 points and 2.5 rebounds in 9.9 minutes per contest. He decided to transfer on Dec. 14.
Clemson head coach Brad Brownell is bringing in two other transfers for next season. Former Robert Morris guard Marcquise Reed and ex-Vanderbilt point guard Shelton Mitchell will be eligible at the start of the 2016-17 campaign. The incoming class also includes small forward Scott Spencer.
Thomas will be eligible after the fall semester next year.

"I chose Clemson because of the opportunities at hand to better myself in a great conference," Thomas told ESPN. "Also, the history and the players who played at Clemson were very successful, so the chance to be a part of that makes me want to work hard and win at Clemson." r>
