Collins leads Wofford to 87-76 win over UNC Greensboro

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) Spencer Collins scored 25 points, Eric Garcia added 17, and Wofford made 11 of 23 shots from beyond the arc in an 87-76 win over UNC Greensboro in a Southern Conference opener Saturday night.

Collins made five 3-pointers for Wofford (4-9, 1-0), including two that bookended a 9-2 run with 11:53 left. All nine points came from Collins and gave the Terriers a 58-52 lead.

Wofford made 9 of 10 free throw attempts in the final 1:10 to ensure the win and break its five-game losing streak.

RJ White scored 19 points on 9-of-12 shooting for UNC Greensboro (4-10, 0-1). Diante Baldwin added 14 points, and Kayel Locke and Marvin Smith each tallied 13.

The Spartans shot 52.5 percent from the field, their highest mark in a loss since 2013.

The Terriers totaled 17 assists on 26 made field goals.
