Columbia rides 2nd-half rally to beat Wofford 70-59
NEW YORK (AP) Alex Rosenberg scored 14 points and Isaac Cohen had nine assists as Columbia used a big second half to defeat Wofford 70-59 in the Hall of Fame Classic on Tuesday night.
The Terriers (1-3), from Spartanburg, South Carolina, were playing their first game in New York in 111 years of basketball. They jumped out to an 8-0 lead and only lost the lead once on their way to a 27-24 halftime edge.
Columbia (3-2) surged in the second half with a Maodo Lo layup, a Rosenberg 3-pointer and a Luke Petrasek layup to lead 33-32 about 2:50 in. Two layups by Lo wrapped around a Grant Mullins 3 fueled a 7-0 spurt that boosted the Lions ahead 51-43 and in control.
Lo and Mullins scored 11 points each for Columbia.
Justin Gordon scored 14 points with five assists and Spencer Collins added 13 points for Wofford.
