Creighton closes on 24-6 run, rallies past ETSU 75-69

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Ty-Shon Alexander scored a career-high 20 points and Creighton closed on a 24-6 run to rally past East Tennessee State 75-69 on Sunday.

Alexander made a long 3-pointer with the shot clock winding down for a 69-65 lead. ETSU turned it over with 40.5 seconds left and elected not to foul, down 71-67, and Martin Krampelj had a baseline dunk at the end of the shot clock to seal it.

ETSU guards Tray Boyd and Patrick Good took over midway through the fourth quarter, scoring 18 of the Buccaneers' 22 points for a 63-51 lead. Boyd made it 65-58 with 4:48 left but ETSU went scoreless for three-plus minutes.

Damien Jefferson added 14 points for Creighton (2-0). Alexander dribbled down the clock on the final possession of the first half, drove the lane and finished in traffic to tie it at 31.

Boyd led East Tennessee State (1-2) with 20 points and Good added 18 with five 3-pointers.
