Vinnie McGhee scored 16 points and Cal State-Northridge used a 20-1 spurt late in the game to defeat UC Davis 84-80 Saturday night.

UC Davis looked well on its way to snapping a 12-game losing streak, leading 71-60 with 6:40 left in the game. But McGhee hit a 3-pointer to start a 16-0 Matadors run. After an Aggies free throw, McGhee hit four free throws to put Northridge on top 80-72 with 39 seconds remaining.

Stephan Hicks added 13 points and Stephen Maxwell had 10 for the Matadors (5-10, 2-3 Big West), who shot 52.5 percent from the field and were 8 of 18 on 3-point attempts.

Tyler Les led UC Davis (1-16, 0-5) with 15 points. Ryan Howley and Josh Ritchart added 14 each and Harrison DuPont had 11. The Aggies hit 13 of 24 3-point attempts, 21 of 23 free throws and shot 50 percent from the field, but committed 17 turnovers.
