Daum leads South Dakota State to 78-54 victory (Nov 12, 2017)
BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) Mike Daum scored 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead South Dakota State to a 78-54 victory over the University of Mary on Sunday.
Daum, a junior forward who is tied with Campbell's Chris Clemons as the nation's top returning scorer (25.1 ppg) and is on three national award watch lists, shot 6 of 12 from the floor and made 9 of 11 free throws. He notched his 33rd 20-point game and moved into 10th on the program's all-time scoring list at 1,430.
The Jackrabbits (2-0) led 39-28 at halftime behind 14 points from Daum and 11 by David Jenkins Jr., using a 15-3 edge in second-chance points.
A 13-2 run with eight points from Daum and capped by Lane Severyn's 3-pointer with 14:27 left gave the Jackrabbits a 52-32 lead and they remained comfortably in front.
Jenkins finished with 13 points and Ian Theisen 10 for the Jackrabbits.
Brody Sharkey led the Division II Marauders with nine points.
