WASHINGTON (AP) — Jordan Davis scored 25 points with seven 3-pointers and Dayton overcame a huge deficit to edge George Washington 72-66 on Wednesday night for its fifth straight win.

Justin Mazzulla scored eight of his 11 points early as George Washington sprinted out 18-4. The Colonials made their first six shots, including four from beyond the 3-point arc, and led 33-11 midway through the first.

Dayton (10-5, 2-0 Atlantic 10) trimmed the gap to 40-30 by halftime and outscored the Colonials 27-9 in the first 10 minutes of the second half to lead 57-56. Davis began and ended the run with 3s.

The Flyers led 68-61 with 42 seconds left but George Washington (5-10, 1-1) cut into that with a Mazzulla 3-pointer and a pair of Javier Langarica free throws making it a two-point game. The Flyers sealed it with four straight free throws.
