DOVER, Del. (AP) Marvin King-Davis scored 13 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and Cazmon Hayes and Chivarsky Corbett each added 12 points as Delaware knocked off in-state rival Delaware State, 62-56 in the season-opener for both schools Friday night.

The Hornets had won two of the last three meetings between the schools, including wire-to-wire, 65-53 win at Delaware last year, but the victory pushes the Blue Hens record in the series to 12-4.

Delaware State took a 37-31 advantage into intermission, but Delaware held the Hornets to just 19 points in the second half.

The Blue Hens held a 44-29 advantage on the boards and a bigger advantage from the free throw line, where they were 16 of 23 and the Hornets missed both of their attempts.
