Delaware grabs early OT lead and holds on to beat Elon 76-74 (Feb 09, 2017)
NEWARK, Del. (AP) Cazmon Hayes drilled a 3-pointer and added three free throws in the final minute of overtime to give Delaware a 76-74 victory over Elon on Thursday night.
Anthony Mosley made two free throws to start the extra period and Delaware led throughout overtime. Elon's Dainan Swoope drilled a 3 in the last second for the final score.
The teams were tied at the break and Delaware's Ryan Daly, who finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds, hit a jumper with two seconds left in regulation to tie it at 59 and send it to overtime.
Darian Bryant added 14 points and Hayes finished with 13 for Delaware (10-16, 3-10 CAA).
There were 16 lead changes in the game.
Swoope led Elon with 21 points, Steven Santa Ana added 15 while pulling down 10 rebounds and Luke Eddy chipped in 14 for the Phoenix (15-11, 7-6) which has lost two straight after winning five in-a-row.
