DETROIT (AP) Detroit Mercy has fired coach Bacari Alexander after the Titans went 8-24 this season.

The school announced the move Monday. Alexander, a former assistant at Michigan, went 16-47 in two seasons at the helm for Detroit.

Assistant coach Jermaine Jackson was named interim coach.

Alexander missed seven games early this season because of what athletic director Robert Vowels called a ''personnel issue.''
