Eastern Illinois overtakes Jacksonville State 75-64

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP) Demetrius McReynolds scored 21 points on 10-for-13 shooting to lead Eastern Illinois to a 75-64 win over Jacksonville State on Saturday.

Casey Teson added 14 points, A.J. Riley had 10 and Cornell Johnston dished out 10 assists for Eastern Illinois (4-10, 1-1 Ohio Valley), which hit 50 percent of its 58 shots from the field. Johnston entered the contest ranked third in the conference in assists, averaging 4.3 per game.

Eastern Illinois, trailing 32-28 at the break, overtook Jacksonville State midway through the second half. McReynolds hit a jumper to edge back into the lead 45-44 and spark a 6-0 spurt. Jacksonville State (5-12, 1-1) tied it at 51 with Erik Durham's 3-pointer before the Panthers took control with a 12-4 run capped with a 3-pointer from McReynolds and hung on for the win.

Malcolm Drumwright's 19 points led three Jacksonville State players in double figures.
