Edmond Sumner to fully practice, questionable vs. Marquette
Edmond Sumner is expected to be a full participant in Xavier's practice on Thursday, but remains questionable for Saturday's game against Marquette.
"We'll put Marquette aside and talk about practice today," Xavier head coach Chris Mack said on Thursday afternoon during the Big East coaches' conference call. "I fully expect him to go in practice today [in] 100 percent of the drills. As long as he responds today and tomorrow in a way that we hope he does then he'll play against Marquette."
Sumner has missed the past three games for No. 7 Xavier, continuing to recover from a hard fall he took in the early portion the Musketeers' 95-64 loss to Villanova on New Year's Eve. Since the first loss of the season, Xavier has won three straight. Myles Davis has assumed the role as point guard in Sumner's absence.
The 6-foot-5 redshirt freshman is third on the team in scoring with 11.0 points and second in assists at 3.1 per game.
Marquette hosts Xavier on Saturday at 2 p.m. EST on FS1.
