Edwards leads Army to 84-71 win over Maine

BANGOR, Maine (AP) Kennedy Edwards came off the bench to score a career high 21 points and Army used a strong first half to defeat Maine 84-71.

Kennedy's first basket broke a tie and started an 8-0 run that put the Black Knights (6-2) up 19-11 almost five minutes into the game. When the Black Bears (2-4) closed within 19-16, Kennedy hit a 3 that ignited a 14-4 run. He had nine and Tanner Plomb five in the stretch.

Army pushed that 15-point margin to 50-29 at the half.

Kyle Wilson had 17 points and Plomb finished with 13 for Army. Edwards hit 4 of 5 on 3-pointers while Plomb and Wilson were 4 of 24 combined.

Reserve Devine Eke had career highs of 29 points and 16 rebounds for Maine, which shot 41 percent despite going 2 of 16 from 3-point range. The 16 rebounds were the most for a Black Bear since January of 2012.
