FGCU runs win streak to 12, holds off NJIT 75-70 (Feb 08, 2018)
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) Christian Terrell led five players in double figures with 17 points on 5-of-6 shooting from both the field and free throw line and Florida Gulf Coast won its 12th straight, beating NJIT 75-70 on Thursday night.
Abdul Lewis' 3-pointer with 4:02 left tied the game at 65 after the Highlanders rallied from a 13-point hole in eight minutes. Lewis score 12 of NJIT's points during a 26-13 run. But Dinero Mercurius' 3 following Lewis' put the Eagles up for good and the Highlanders missed six of their last eight shots down the stretch.
Zach Johnson scored 15 points, Brandon Goodwin, 14, Antravious Simmons 12, and Mercurius 10. FGCU (19-8, 10-0 Atlantic Sun) shot 25 of 45 (56 percent) from the field.
Lewis led NJIT (12-13, 5-5) with 23 points and Anthony Tarke scored 21.
