OMAHA, Neb. (AP) Former Missouri State coach Paul Lusk will join Creighton's staff as an assistant.

Coach Greg McDermott announced Tuesday that Lusk would replace Darian DeVries, who was named head coach at Drake last week.

Missouri State fired Lusk last month after he went 105-121 in seven seasons with the Bears. His 2017-18 team finished seventh in the Missouri Valley after being the preseason favorite.

Lusk previously was on the staffs at Purdue and Southern Illinois. The native of New Baden, Illinois, played college basketball at Iowa and Southern Illinois.

McDermott said Lusk's connections across the country will be valuable in recruiting and his enthusiasm and work ethic make him a good fit for the Bluejays' staff.
