Fordham downs Richmond 69-65 in OT behind Chartouny (Jan 03, 2018)
NEW YORK (AP) Joseph Chartouny scored six of his 26 points in overtime and Fordham beat Richmond 69-65 on Wednesday night to end a two-game skid.
Ivan Raut's 3-pointer put the Rams up 63-61 in OT and Chartouny made back-to-back layups for a five-point lead. Richmond's Nick Sherod made a pair of free throws and the Spiders closed to 67-65 after De'Monte Buckingham made one of two from the line with 2 seconds left.
Buckingham purposely missed his second free throw but Chartouny grabbed the rebound, drew a foul and iced it with two from the line.
Chartouny grabbed 12 rebounds and made 8 of 10 free throws. Raut scored 12 points and Will Tavares added 10 for the Rams (6-8, 1-1 Atlantic 10 Conference), who made 12 free throws to the Spiders' eight.
Richmond's Jacob Gilyard tied it at 60 with 21 seconds left to cap a 7-2 Spiders run at the end of regulation. The Rams led 35-33 at halftime behind Chartouny's 10 points.
Julius Johnson led Richmond (3-11, 1-1) with 12 points. Buckingham and Nathan Cayo added 10 apiece.
