Former Duke Basketball Player Expected to Star in Upcoming Movie

NBA star yrie Irving will reportedly star in an upcoming motion picture about his popular basketball character “Uncle Drew”.

Former Duke guard Kyrie Irving will possibly star in his own movie after it was announced that Temple Hill Entertainment acquired feature film rights to Irving’s “Uncle Drew” character. Uncle Drew is a character played by Irving who came to popularity in commercials for Pepsi.

Uncle Drew originated from Pepsi advertisements featuring Kyrie Irving in make-up disguised as a 70-year old man. He would show up at basketball courts to surprise people playing in pick-up games. The story for the film will consist of Drew reuniting with his old teammates to compete in a national basketball tournament.

Unfortunately, Irving’s college career was cut short due to a foot injury that forced him to miss most of the season. The 6-2 point guard averaged 17.5 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 4.3 assists while appearing in only 11 games with the Blue Devils. Kyrie Irving has excelled in the NBA since being drafted No. 1 in 2011. The former Blue Devil was spectacular last season with historic performances in the NBA Finals and the Summer Olympics.

Irving will head to his fourth NBA All-Star game next week representing the Eastern Conference as a starter. He will also be competing in the three point contest after winning it in 2013. Stay tuned for more news on the feature film starring the former Blue Devil!
