Freshman Cremo scores 25 to lead Albany past Niagara 65-56

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) Freshman Joe Cremo scored a season-high 25 points to help Albany beat Niagara 65-56 on Wednesday night.

Cremo was 9-of-12 shooting, including 3 of 3 from beyond the arc.

Evan Singletary had 10 assists and Greig Stire grabbed 10 rebounds for Albany (9-4).

The Great Danes led 32-24 at halftime behind Cremo's 11 points. They made 12 of their 24 field goals and held Niagara to 31 percent shooting.

Niagara went without a field goal for six-plus minutes early in the second half and trailed 44-27. Albany went on a 12-2 run during the Purple Eagles' field-goal drought, with four points apiece from Cremo and Dallas Ennema.

Ennema hit a 3-pointer from the wing in transition to push Albany's lead to 56-43 with 6:18 remaining.

Niagara (3-9) was paced by freshman Dominic Robb, who scored a season-high 19 points on 9-of-11 shooting.
