Freshman Morgan hits 5 3s, Cornell beats Binghamton 76-59

ITHACA, N.Y. (AP) Freshman Matt Morgan made five 3-pointers and had a season-best 24 points to help Cornell beat Binghamton 76-59 on Wednesday night.

Morgan scored five straight points during Cornell's 12-3 run midway through the second half for a 63-49 lead. Binghamton got within 10 points with 5:50 and 4:13 remaining, but Morgan had an answer each time. Morgan scored 8 of Cornell's final 10 points.

Darryl Smith hit four 3-pointers and finished with 16 points for Cornell (2-1), which made 12 of 24 shots from distance. Robert Hatter had 15 points and 11 assists.

Marlon Beck led Binghamton (0-3) with 17 points after making five 3-pointers. Willie Rodriguez added 14 points with seven rebounds and Everson Davis had 10 points and five assists. The Bearcats were held to 37 percent shooting.
