Gee scores 18 as Alabama State cruises to 85-44 win
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Reginald Gee scored 18 points and Alabama State beat Division III Birmingham-Southern 86-44 on Wednesday night.
Branden Johnson added 11 points with a team-high 13 rebounds for the Hornets (2-2). AJ Farrar also had 11 points and added 10 rebounds and Tobi Ewuosho chipped in 10 points with five rebounds.
Alabama State shot 47 percent from the field (30-64) compared to 25 percent for Birmingham-Southern (14-57) and had a 52-33 rebounding edge.
Gee's 3-point play followed by Azariah Seay's 3-point jumper capped a 20-9 start for the Hornets and they were up 38-28 at the break.
Austin Rogers sank a 3-pointer early in the second half to extend the Hornets advantage to 20 points, 48-28, and they rolled to the win.
Calvin Bak scored 12 points to lead the Panthers who sent 17 players into the contest.
