Gilmore has double-double, SF Austin rolls to 22nd win (Feb 17, 2018)

SAN ANTONIO (AP) Leon Gilmore III had 22 points and 11 rebounds as Stephen F. Austin took an early lead and coasted to an 81-70 win over Incarnate Word on Saturday to keep the Cardinals winless in Southland Conference action.

Kevon Harris, who has hit 47 percent of his long-range shots this season, continued to bomb away, making 4 of 8 to total 22 points. He has drained 50 for the season. Shannon Bogues nailed 5 of 8 from beyond the arc for 19 points as the Lumberjacks drilled 9 of 19 from long range to improve on its season average of 37 percent.

Stephen F. Austin (22-5, 11-3), which has won four straight, continues to trail Nicholls and Southeastern Louisiana in the league standings.

The Lumberjacks sprinted to a 39-20 halftime advantage before Incarnate Word rallied, outscoring SFA 21-8 to start the second period to close to 47-41 at the 12:17 mark. The Lumberjacks stretched the margin back to 13 following a Harris trey and cruised home.

Shawn Johnson had 23 points and Sam Burmeister added 18 for Incarnate Word (5-19, 0-14).
