Green sparks comeback off bench, New Orleans tops SFA 68-61
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Troy Green scored 15 points off the bench with four assists and four steals and New Orleans clawed out of a 13-point hole and hung on at the end to defeat Stephen F. Austin 68-61 Wednesday night, pushing its win streak to four games.
Ezekiel Charles added 12 points for New Orleans (9-7, 4-1 Southland), and Gerrale Gates 11. The Privateers had 11 steals and took advantage of 22 Stephen F. Austin turnovers to score 22 points. New Orleans was in the top five nationally in steals and forced turnovers.
Shannon Bogues scored 20 points for Stephen F. Austin (8-8, 1-3) but also posted seven turnovers. Kevon Harris double-doubled with 13 points and 10 rebounds. The Lumberjacks have lost three in a row.
Jovan Grujic scored in the paint, giving the Lumberjacks a 17-4 lead less than eight minutes into the game. Charles hit a 3-pointer to spark a comeback for a 29-28 lead at halftime and hit again from 3 to open the second half.
New Orleans held the Lumberjacks scoreless for the final 2:53.
