Hamilton with 21, Prairie View A&M beats Alabama St. 86-80 (Jan 27, 2018)

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) Zachary Hamilton scored 21 points on seven 3-pointers and Prairie View A&M beat Alabama State 86-80 on Saturday night.

JD Wallace added 15 points with five rebounds for the Panthers (7-15, 4-4 Southwestern Athletic Conference) who have won two in a row after losing four straight. Shaquille Preston had 15 points, Troy Thompson added 13 and Dennis Jones 10.

Hamilton drained five 3-pointers in the first half to help Prairie View build a 42-28 lead at the break.

Alabama State trailed throughout the second half, pulling to 78-70 on a Jacoby Ross jumper with 2:19 to play. Preston replied with a dunk and Hamilton drained another 3 to stretch it to 83-71 with 1:18 left.

Reginald Gee scored a career-best 27 points for the Hornets (3-17, 3-5) who have lost four of the last five.
