Harry Giles, "The 6'10 Barbarian"

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Most barbarians are considered savage.

22.5 seconds on the clock, Giles stands at the top of the circle, ball at his hip.

Giles glances at the clock, looks down at the defender with a smirk on his face saying “You really want this clinic”.

Laughter begins, as Giles looks at the clock once again. One dribble, between the legs twice, jitter step, down the lane.

“BOOM SHOCKA LOCKA”.

Please don’t think for one second, that’s the only move that makes him a savage.

If I were a mathematician, I would say Giles has a formula entitled, “Jab Step + Between Leg Dribble = ” The 6’10 Barbarian”.

Excuse me for the high vernacular, but Giles is a 6’10 sensation this season for the Blue Devils. After experiencing a couple of ACL injuries and surgery operations, the freshman has molded himself into a premier player for the Blue Devils this season. Because of the knee injuries, Giles will be out for the first six weeks of the season. A Winston-Salem, N.C. native, he graduated from Wesleyan Christian High School, leading them to a state championship, becoming the nation’s top overall prospect.

According to numerous major recruiting services, Giles was rated the No.1 high school basketball prospect in the 2016 class, by ESPN’s 150, Rivals.com, and Scout.com.

Have you ever heard of a barbarian listed at 6’10 260 lbs?

Fans, you have now.

Here comes the barbarian crossing the half court circle, dribble move down the lane, and Giles cross over to the right, nice euro step move, “GILES WITH THE POSTER DUNK”.

If you think that’s his first poster, you’re wrong. I dare you to jump with the 6’10 savage.

Defender jumps with Giles, there’s a dunk and a body flying to the baseline.

Ooooh boy, someone run and get the athletic trainer on that dunk. Gosh!

Giles has the complete package at the forward position. Before he signed with the Blue Devils, offers flew from everywhere including Kansas, Wake Forest, Kentucky, and North Carolina where his hometown is located. At 6’10 he creates his own shot, nice handles in transition, and an incredible shot blocker. Overall, he’s very fundamentally sound.

Defender goes up for the lay in, and here comes Giles with the block!

Fans, the ball is in the 17th row.

While in high school, Giles earned three gold medals as a member of the FIBA U19 World Championship, in addition to being a McDonald’s All-American and Jordan Brand All-American. Several NBA mock drafts consider Giles to be the No.1 pick in next year’s 2017 draft. Honestly, from a realistic perspective you can’t deny the fact that he’s a game changer. Despite the  discrepancies with past knee injuries, Giles will be ready to help lead the Blue Devils back to the Final Four.

Before anyone jumps on me for that statement, I’ll say this. Duke got 58 associated press votes which solidified them as the nation’s No.1 team.

Any justifications? I’ll except them, only with adequate research and data.

Giles is Duke’s 6’10 barbarian this 2016-17 season.

Fans, as always here’s Giles with the last play of the night.

13.7 seconds left in the fourth, Giles stands in the right corner, holding the ball over his head.

Giles goes behind the back, with a nice spin move, for a 360 windmill!

    Here comes the 6’10 savage.

    “BOOM BABY”!
