Hartford beats Binghamton 67-57 behind Carroll's 23 points (Feb 24, 2018)
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (AP) John Carroll grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds and scored 23 points and Hartford rallied to beat Binghamton 67-57 on Saturday to win its fourth straight and retain a top-three spot in the America East Tournament.
Hassan Attia added 12 points and J.R. Lynch had nine points and five steals for the Hawks (18-11, 11-4), who made 18 free throws in sweeping the season series against the Bearcats (11-19, 2-13), who have lost 10 of their last 11.
Travis Weatherington's layup capped an 11-3 run for a 39-32 Hartford lead, but Thomas Bruce's 3-point play put the Bearcats back on top 48-47. Weatherington's go-ahead layup sparked a 7-0 run and Hartford led 60-52 on Jack Hobbs' 3 with 2:49 left. Binghamton closed to 62-57 on J.C. Show's 3 with 1:01 left, but Carroll and Lynch combined for five free throws from there to seal it.
Binghamton led 29-28 at halftime after hitting 5 of 8 3s to Hartford's 1 of 10 and holding the Hawks to 38.7 percent shooting from the field.
Fard Muhammad scored 14 points, Show added 13 and Bruce had 13 rebounds for Binghamton.
