Hartford rallies from 26-point deficit, beats UMass Lowell (Jan 27, 2018)

LOWELL, Mass. (AP) Jason Dunne had 20 points and Jack Hobbs scored 14 of his 18 points in the second half to help Hartford rally from a 26-point deficit for a 77-70 victory over UMass Lowell on Saturday night.

J.R. Lynch added 17 points, four assists and four steals, John Carroll scored 10 and Hassan Attia had eight points, 10 rebounds and three blocks for Hartford (12-10, 5-3 America East).

Lynch hit a 3-pointer and Carroll made a layup to give Hartford a 70-67 lead with three minutes left. Matt Harris converted a 3-point play to tie it, but Hobbs answered with a 3, Lynch added a layup and Dunne hit two free throws during a 7-0 run to close the game. Lowell missed eight of its last nine field-goal attempts.

Harris hit three 3s and Jahad Thomas scored eight points during a 26-2 run that gave Lowell a 32-6 lead with seven minutes left in the first half. Hartford used a 21-4 run late in the first half and a 13-2 spurt early in the second to take its first lead, 52-51, with 13 minutes to go.

Thomas had 20 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists for UMass Lowell (8-13, 2-6).
