Hayes, Greenwood lead Southeastern Louisiana past Nicholls (Feb 01, 2017)

HAMMOND, La. (AP) Davon Hayes hit four 3-pointers and finished with 20 points, Moses Greenwood had a double-double and Southeastern Louisiana beat Nicholls State 72-44 on Wednesday night.

Greenwood finished with 14 points, on 7-of-11 shooting, and a career-high 13 rebounds while Eddy Polanco scored 11 with nine rebounds and a career-best five assists for Southeastern Louisiana (13-10, 6-4 Southland Conference).

Nicholls (11-12, 4-6) led 26-25 at halftime but made just five field goals and shot just 21.7 percent - including 1 of 14 from 3-point range - after the break while being outscored 47-18 in its lowest-scoring half of the season.

Jabbar Singleton, Polanco and Hayes each hit a 3 as the Lions scored the first 12 points of the half to take the lead for good. Back-to-back 3s by Hayes and another by Marlain Veal sparked a 15-2 run that made it 53-32 with 10:40 left.

Jonathan Bell had 12 points and Javaughn Powell added 11 for Nicholls (11-12, 4-6). Liam Thomas, who came in leading the nation in total blocks (84) and blocks per game (3.82), had blocked five shots.
