Henderson leads Sam Houston State to 78-71 win

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Dakarai Henderson made five 3-pointers and scored 17 points and Sam Houston State defeated Tennessee Tech 78-71 on Sunday.

Paul Baxter and Albert Almanza added 12 points each for the Bearkats (3-1), who shot 48.1 percent and an even 50 percent (9 of 18) from the arc. Chris Galbreath Jr. had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. John Dewey III handed out seven assists.

Aleksa Jugovic scored 23 points, Mason Ramsey 14, Kajon Mack 12 and Stephaun Adams 10 for the Golden Eagles (1-3), who shot just 35.5 percent and were only 6 of 26 from 3-point range. Ja'Cardo Hawkins grabbed 10 rebounds.

Both teams turned the ball over 22 times.

The Bearkats took off to a 24-3 lead. The Eagles got within four with 4:18 left in the game but no closer with Baxter making a pair of free throws for an eight-point advantage with 1:39 left.
