Hervey leads Incarnate Word to 91-63 win over Texas Lutheran (Dec 05, 2017)
SAN ANTONIO (AP) Keaton Hervey had 17 points to lead six Incarnate Word players in double figures as the Cardinals stormed past Division III Texas Lutheran 91-63 on Tuesday night.
Christian Peevy came off the bench to score 15 on 5-of-8 shooting as all nine Incarnate Word players put points on the board. Simi Socks added 13 points with seven rebounds, with Shawn Johnson and Sam Burmeister chipping in 11 points apiece for Incarnate Word (4-3).
The Cardinals hit 52 percent (35-67) from the floor while limiting Texas Lutheran to 26-of-65 (38.5 percent) shooting. Incarnate Word also won the rebound battle 44-37.
The Cardinals never trailed but did not break free from Texas Lutheran until Johnson and Socks opened the second period with back-to-back treys to start a 23-12 run and go ahead 65-44 at the 12:33 mark. They stretched that to 73-46 with 9:47 remaining.
Matthew Gillette led the Bulldogs with 12 points.
