Hinds' hits 6 3s, UMass beats Central Arkansas 89-62

AMHERST, Mass. (AP) Jabarie Hinds was 6 of 10 from 3-point range with 24 points and nine assists on Thursday night, and Massachusetts beat Central Arkansas 89-62.

The Minutemen (3-0) took control with a 17-2 run capped at 70-44 by one of Hinds' 3-pointers midway through the second half. Their largest lead was 85-52 with 4:08 left.

UMass built a double-digit lead midway through the first half and maintained their advantage between 7 and 15 until a 41-30 halftime lead.

Donte Clark added 19 points with 5-of-10 3-point shooting. UMass was 16 of 29 from the arc. Trey Davis added 17 points and Zach Coleman scored 10.

Jeff Lowery and Jordan Howard led Central Arkansas (0-2) with 11 points each. Justin Foreman added 10. Howard was 1 of 8 from 3-point range and the Bears were 2 of 14.

Howard's 3 pulled the Bears within 18-17 but they would get no closer.
